Hope Breakfast Bar owners cancel plans for Spring Break restaurant across from Xcel Energy Center Spring Break, the 1980s-themed restaurant set to open soon across from the Xcel Energy Center, has been called off, owner Brian Ingram said. The restaurant was to be a major tenant of the Seven Corners Gateway development, which also includes another Ingram restaurant, the Apostle Supper Club, and a hotel whose construction was interrupted by arson in 2020. Developer Carl Kaeding said he plans to find a new restaurant for the several-thousand-square-foot space.Ingram, who also runs Hope Breakfast Bar and the Gnome Craft Pub, said he hopes to revisit the idea in the future but said his creative energy is stretched too thin to do justice to the ambitious project.“That’s going to be such a unique and one-of-one concept that it was going to take a lot of my time and effort, and I just didn’t have the bandwidth to do it right now,” the chef and restaurateur said.Ingram cited omnipresent supply chain issues, along with the difficulty of finding contractors and designers to create so many c...

Ask Amy: The good news is this video ended my wife’s embarrassing behavior Dear Amy: From the day we met, over 40 years ago, my wife and I have been social drinkers. Get-togethers at weddings, holidays, concerts, sporting events, etc., have always featured alcohol. While I can have a couple of drinks and stop, when it comes to my wife … not so much. She will keep ordering drinks right up to 2 a.m. And while sometimes stupidly funny when we were younger, as we’ve aged the end results were becoming frequently embarrassing.I was becoming very concerned about my wife’s drinking and her health. One night when she went way over the edge, I took video of her, then showed it to her and said that I no longer wished to be a part of that lifestyle.I dumped all the alcohol in the house, and neither of us has had a drink since.I hardly miss it, and she had no trouble quitting, either, but mentally it has been very challenging for her.Alcohol was her social lubricant. Alcohol is what allowed her to get past her social anxiety and self-esteem issues. Now she either d...
