CHICAGO (WMBD) - Two new shelter sites will begin construction this week to accommodate future asylum-seekers in Illinois.A news release from Gov. Pritzker's office states that the shelters will be a base camp in Brighton Park and a brick-and-mortar site in Little Village.Up to 2,200 asylum seekers can be accommodated at the sites. They will offer warm sleeping spaces, meals, hygiene facilities, and wraparound services. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s Family and Medical Leave Insurance Division’s application portal for its new paid family and medical leave program is up and running, allowing employees to begin applying for benefits immediately.Additionally, the department in a news release announced three virtual town hall dates for Coloradans to learn more about the voter-approved program, which takes effect Jan. 1. A portion of westbound Interstate 70 near Glenwood Springs has been reopened after a crash temporarily closed it.The Colorado Department of Transportation announced on X in a message posted at 1:11 p.m. Monday that a section of the westbound lanes of the highway from Hanging Lake, exit 125, to Shoshone, exit 123, was closed. A woman was arrested after she allegedly dragged a young girl off her front yard while she was playing with her friend. Two teenagers were apprehended after they attempted to steal merchandise from a Macy’s department store in Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday.At around 7:51 p.m. on Nov. 25, authorities with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to calls of a theft in progress at the Macy’s located on the 12500 block of South Main Street, according to a news release.The teens, a 17-year-old male and a 16-year-old female, attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.
